Police in Chiang Mai recently conducted raids on numerous luxury apartments, resulting in the dismantling of a Taiwanese online gambling syndicate and the detention of 19 individuals. After obtaining court orders, a team from the Fifth Regional Technology Crime Suppression Division of Chiang Mai Provincial Police, led by Police Colonel Worrapon Kamlu, conducted raids on three locations associated with the international gambling network betadd.app in the context of an investigation into Taiwanese nationals on November 27. The objective of these operations was to dismantle an online gambling syndicate headquartered in Thailand that had a particular focus on gamblers from China and Thailand.
Luxury apartments situated in Soi Nimmanhaemin 8, Suthep District, Chiang Mai, were the site of the initial assault. Mr. Yeh, a 31-year-old Taiwanese national, and five Thai nationals between the ages of 24 and 28 were apprehended during this operation. On the scene, law enforcement officials confiscated five mobile phones and five computers for the purpose of conducting additional investigations.
The police then conducted a second raid at another luxury condominium located on Rachaphruk Road in the Chang Phueak District of Chiang Mai. Eight perpetrators were apprehended during this operation, including seven Thai nationals and 24-year-old Taiwanese national Ms. Huang. The confiscation of nine computers and 18 mobile phones serves as additional evidence of the syndicate’s criminal activities.
Police apprehended five suspects, including an 18-year-old Myanmar national and four Thai nationals, during the final investigation at an apartment on Huakai Road in Suthep District. This locati0n was the site of the seizure of five computers, which serve as additional evidence against the syndicate.
Directly or indirectly encouraging participation in gambling, violating Thailand’s Gambling Act, and organizing or promoting unlawful gambling are the charges against all arrested suspects. These suspects acknowledged their involvement in www.Betaccc.app, an online wagering platform that caters to gamblers from Thailand, China, and Taiwan and has a membership exceeding 100,000.
According to reports, “Mr. Jin Mi,” a Taiwanese national, was responsible for the supervision of the wagering operation. He was also responsible for the recruitment of personnel and the leasing of properties and the promotion of activities on various platforms. Based on the results of the investigations, the monthly compensation for these employees ranged from 15,000 to 30,000 baht. The operation had been ongoing for several months, and the police have announced that they are redoubling their efforts to locate “Mr. Jin Mi” and his associates.
The Chiang Mai police emphasized that this operation is not only a crackdown on online gambling, but also a measure to defend public order and safeguard the legal rights of citizens.
